01 Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate an NIL marketplace and to move deals from listing to funded payout.

Account & profile information

• Athletes: name, email address, display name, sport, NCAA division, school, graduation year, headline and bio, avatar image, and connected social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube) with the follower counts you provide.
• Businesses: business name, contact email, category, and location (city and state).
• A securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Deal & contract data

• Deal listings, applications and pitches, messages exchanged between athletes and businesses, contract terms, and electronic signature records.

Payment data

• Deal amounts, platform fees, and payment status. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor, Stripe — Trident NIL never receives or stores your full card number or bank account credentials. We retain the Stripe account and customer identifiers and payout status associated with your account.

Technical data

• Your IP address (used for security and rate limiting), session identifiers, and timestamps of key actions such as sign-in, signing, and funding.

02 How We Use Information

• Create and manage your account and athlete or business profile.
• Power the marketplace: matching athletes with deals, processing applications, and enabling messaging between the two parties to a deal.
• Prepare and record contracts and electronic signatures.
• Process payments, hold funds in escrow, calculate the platform fee, and release payouts through Stripe.
• Run NCAA-oriented compliance checks on deal listings (for example, screening for prohibited categories and pay-for-play language).
• Protect the platform against fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Send transactional notifications about your deals, contracts, and payments.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertising.

03 Cookies & Sessions

Trident NIL uses a small number of first-party cookies that are strictly necessary to run the service. A session cookie keeps you signed in, and a short-lived flash cookie carries one-time status messages (for example, “Your contract was signed”). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you clear these cookies you will be signed out.

04 Payments & Stripe

Payments and escrow on Trident NIL are handled by Stripe. Athletes receive payouts through Stripe Connect (Express) accounts, and businesses fund deals through Stripe Checkout. When you onboard or pay, information you enter goes to Stripe under Stripe’s privacy policy. Stripe acts as an independent controller of the payment and identity data it collects for regulatory and anti-fraud purposes. We recommend reviewing Stripe’s privacy practices in addition to ours.

05 How We Share Information

• With the other party to a deal. When you apply to or post a deal, relevant profile, application, and contract information is shared with the athlete or business on the other side of that deal so it can be evaluated and completed.
• With Stripe, our payment processor, to onboard athletes, fund deals, hold escrow, and release payouts.
• For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

06 Data Retention

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Deal, contract, payment, and audit records are retained for as long as needed to complete transactions, resolve disputes, and meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, even after an account is closed. When data is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete or anonymize it.

07 Your Rights & Choices

You can review and update most of your profile information at any time from your account settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information. To make a request, email us at bnwill32@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity, and some data tied to completed transactions may be retained as described in the Data Retention section above.

08 Student Athletes & Age

Trident NIL is built for college and university student athletes and the businesses that partner with them. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Athletes under the age of majority (18 in most U.S. states) may be subject to additional NIL rules and, in many cases, need a parent or guardian involved before entering a deal. If you believe a minor has provided us information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

09 How We Protect Data

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. Traffic to the platform is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2 with SHA-256 and are never stored in plain text. Payment funds are held in escrow through Stripe and released only when a deal’s conditions are met. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Trident NIL after an update means you accept the revised policy.
